'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the dramatic final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match ended with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative strike from distance, and his teammate immediately slammed home the loose ball before racing off toward the home end to celebrate, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result completed an incredible turnaround given the team had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the second half. Amid the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory secured a upcoming match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had a prime vantage point when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's volley from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that range," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right wing-back after they changed tactics. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way the underdogs played positively.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they are adept at dictate and neutralize a game. You can believe you're doing well and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It demands a tough attitude and concentration just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at his former club and has swiftly done the same in south Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a bit naive going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say under-23s football is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without real physicality. There's not many tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for his team and nation, performing well for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the past five games, including two matches encounters against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This marks a remarkable path for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who used to see his dad, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

His sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "It was a extended travel and it was cold out there," he says, smiling. "The week before, the academy prospects trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I believed I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a learner's exam, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the drivers, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to socialize with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the following person out of the minibus and driving. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on London's Central line after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
